The World Premiere at Telluride has left THE ACT OF KILLING with quotes such as:
‘Easily the boldest documentary at Telluride this year—maybe one of the boldest ever seen anywhere—is the Morris-produced “The Act of Killing”.’
And:
‘A banality-of-evil portrait that culminates in an unforgettable realization of culpability and conscience among the otherwise remorseless killers.’
– The Wrap.
Indiewire calls THE ACT OF KILLING “the Most Unsettling Movie About Mass Killing Since ‘Shoah'”
This week The Act of Killing premieres at Toronto International Film Festival and programme director Thom Powers highlight it as a hot pick.
TIFF bills it as “a surreal, cinematic journey, not only into the memories and imaginations of mass murderers, but also into a frighteningly banal regime of corruption and impunity,”
The Act of Killing arrives at the festival with exec producers, and two of the most respected doc-makers working today – Werner Herzog and Errol Morris.
We congratulation director Joshua Oppenheimer and producer Signe Byrge Sørensen!
